The project involves the master-planning of a 100,000m2 site within the National University of Singapore, for its staff housing. Phase 1 development involves the provision of 400 units of new apartments, to complement the existing 516 units. Land is a key resource in land-scarce Singapore. This 10ha land forms a critical part of the overall NUS landbank and the new development has to ensure the optimal redevelopment of Kent Vale. The new masterplan considers carefully, the phased development of the site, providing a strategic blueprint which will guide the longer term redevelopment of the entire site.

The new development aims to create ‘A Global Village’, a living community where the university academics, professionals, researchers and leading scientists interact freely in a relaxed and collaborative atmosphere, promoting cross-cultural exchange and social networking.

The project also introduces innovative design strategies and solutions to enable the development to achieve its sustainable design targets and benchmarks.
